Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Philipp Blume. I am a composer of mostly chamber music who recently earned a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley and I currently teach at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. My music is characterized by richness of detail and new approaches to musical narrative. It has been featured in cities throughout North America and Europe.
At present I am at work on a chamber music cycle entitled Rausch des Vergessens (details here). It will consist of seven works of varying instrumentation, with five epilogues for solo piano. The individual pieces are extractable, and the piano epilogues can also be performed separately as an independent cycle.
If you are interested in my compositional work, you can visit the Compositions page. It contains streaming audio, a handful of score samples, and program notes for your perusal. For my resume and biographical information, see the Biography page. Finally, I welcome your comments or emails through the Contact page. Enjoy!
